How can I fund my account?

Here's an overview of all the ways to deposit money into Public.

Updated over 9 months ago

We have a few different ways to fund your account so you can get started investing.

Plaid

Plaid is the nation's largest bank connection provider. They enable you to connect Public with your bank account to make deposits and withdraw settled cash.

Read more about how Plaid keeps your financial information safe here.

Manual Linking via Micro Deposits

While Plaid is connected with all major banks and most other financial institutions, if your personal bank is not listed or experiences issues connecting, you can connect your bank account manually through Micro Deposits.

Our clearing firm, Apex, will send two small test deposits to your bank account then you'll input the amounts of those two deposits into the Public app. This verifies we have the correct bank account information for you. This process can take 5-7 business days, and once it's complete, you'll be able to make deposits.

When it comes time to withdraw, you will be asked to provide a bank statement to verify that you are the account owner. This is due to industry Anti Money Laundering Regulations, which we follow to the highest degree to keep you and everyone in our community safe.

Debit Card Funding

You can also use your Debit Card to fund your Public account. Public members with a linked Debit Card can deposit up to $2,500 into their Public account.

If you’d like to learn more about connecting and depositing via a Debit Card, you can contact our Member Support team via in-app chat or email at support@public.com.

Check or Wire

Lastly, you can always go old school and fund your account by mailing us a check or initiating a wire transfer.

This is a one-time transfer of funds and does not establish a connection with your bank account. If you deposit using this method, you will need to contact support@public.com to withdraw in the same manner OR connect a bank account using Plaid or Micro-Deposits.

Any other questions about funding your account? The team is always here for you, so feel free to give us a shout on the app’s Chat or via email at support@public.com.
