How do I connect my Public account to other apps?
Updated over a week ago

Public gives you the option to share account data with other apps such as financial tracking apps for budgeting or money management purposes.

What does it mean to share account data?

By sharing your account data with an external app, you allow that app to read information from your account such as your balance, holdings, and trade/transaction history.

Why would I want to do this?

There are many reasons to share your data. If you use a money tracker app, for instance, you can view your Public account information alongside all your other accounts (checking, savings, credit, etc).

How do I share my data?

You will need to link your Public account via the external app. When you begin the linking process, the Public app will prompt you to consent to data sharing.

Is my data safe?

Yes, your data is safe. Public only supports direct integrations with trusted partners and uses OAuth frameworks to authorize those partners and keep your information secure.

What is OAuth Frameworks?

OAuth stands for Open Authorization. It is a security framework designed to allow a website or app to access information hosted by other apps on behalf of a user.

Is my data being sold?

No, your data is not being sold.

Who are your integration partners?

Currently, Public only supports direct integrations with Copilot (https://copilot.money/), but more partnerships are on the way.

Can I opt out?

Yes, you can opt-out any time via your account settings on the Public mobile app:

- Tap the menu icon ≡ (three horizontal lines) in the top left corner of the screen

- Tap Account settings

- Tap Connected Applications

Public will immediately cease granting that application access to your account.

For further questions regarding how to connect your Public account to outside apps, please contact Member Support via in-app chat or email at support@public.com.
