We suggest a Trusted Contact for anyone who has an investment account.
Who can be my Trusted Contact?
A Trusted Contact may be a family member, attorney, accountant, or another adult who you believe would respect your privacy and know how to handle the responsibility. Your Trusted Contact should be at least 18 years old. You can change or remove this person at any time.
How do I add a Trusted Contact?
You can add your Trusted Contact directly from the app or website by accessing your Account Settings (web: Settings and Privacy) and selecting Update Account (Account Information on the web). From here you can add and edit your Trusted Contact.
Am I required to add a Trusted Contact?
No. Adding a Trusted Contact is optional; however, we encourage you to add a Trusted Contact to provide an extra layer of safety for your account.
How would having a Trusted Contact help me?
Maybe you are traveling. Maybe you have been displaced by a natural disaster. Maybe there is a concern about unauthorized activity in your account. Or maybe you are having a health issue.
These are examples of situations where, if we are unable to get in contact with you, we may reach out to your Trusted Contact and disclose information about your account to address possible financial exploitation, to confirm the specifics of your current contact information, health status, or the identity of your executor, trustee or holder of a power of attorney, or as otherwise permitted by FINRA rules.
Can my Trusted Contact make trades in my account?
No. Naming someone as a trusted contact does not give that person any authority to act on your behalf, execute transactions or engage in activity in your account.
