Public does not offer custodial accounts at this time.
What is a custodial account?
Custodial accounts allow legal guardians or custodians to create accounts for the benefit of a beneficiary (someone under 18 years old.) Once that beneficiary turns 18, the account can be transferred to their name and they will have full ownership and control over the funds in that account.
Are custodial accounts available at Public?
Custodial accounts are not available on the Public platform at this time. That said, we're always adding new features, so if you'd like to be notified if we ever offer custodial accounts, give us a shout in the app's Chat or via email at support@public.com.
If you are interested in passing your account to your heirs, a Transfer on Death (TOD) agreement may be an option for you. Please reach out to our team regarding a TOD at support@public.com or through the chat in-app.
Can I still use the app if I'm under 18?
Yes, you can download the app and use this as an inactive version, one without a brokerage account.
