My funds were sent to a closed account

Updated this week

When payment methods are not kept up-to-date, sometimes transfers of funds end up sent to an older bank account that is already closed. When this happens, the funds will reach the bank and the bank will reject them citing that the account is closed. Those funds will then be returned to your Public account where you can try withdrawing them again to a different account. This will take some time.

To expedite this, we recommend contacting your prior bank, explaining the situation, and asking if they can expedite the return of those funds to your Public account.

We encourage members to monitor and maintain their linked bank accounts to ensure this information is always up to date.

In the meantime, contact our support team via chat or at support@public.com and we'll be happy to monitor your account and notify you once we see those funds available once more.
