Stocktwits Tax Information

On April 16, 2024, Public announced its acquisition of Stocktwits brokerage accounts. Members who migrated their accounts to the Pubic platform, had all assets transferred to Public. Details of this acquisition can be found in our official press release.

Historical documents while the account was held with Stocktwits are available for download at Apex Online. If you do not currently have an Apex login ID, you will need to create one.

To create an Apex ID:

  • Select Create User ID

  • Enter your former Stocktwits account number.

Your Stocktwits account number can be located in the activity section of your May 2024 Public brokerage statement within the Account Activity details in the Miscellaneous Transactions section, and will begin with the prefix 4SU or 4ST.

If you had tax reportable activity while the account was held with Stocktwits, you will receive a Stocktwits 1099 tax form, in addition to an additional tax form for reportable activity while held with Public. Your Stocktwits tax forms and any corrections will also be available to view via Apex Online by February 17th.

To view your Public tax statement in the Public App:

  • Tap the 3 lines in the top left corner

  • Tap Account Settings

  • Scroll down to Documents

  • Tap Tax statements

  • On this screen, you will find 3 tabs: Equities, Crypto, and High-Yield Cash. Your tax documents will be found in each respective tab for the asset(s) you own in your account

  • For Treasury Bill tax documents: When tapping into the Manage Treasury Account button, your treasury tax documents will be available, along with your statements and trade confirmations.

To find the document tab on the web:

  • Click your name in the top right corner

  • Click Settings and Privacy

  • Click Documents

  • Click Tax Statements
