How do I create an Agent?
Open Agents in Public on the web app, tap new conversation, and describe the agent you want for your portfolio. The Agent will likely ask a few clarifying questions, then show you the full plan in plain English. When you're happy with it, you’ll see a final preview of the agent - including a title, description, and workflow. Once you’re ready, tap Create & Activate. You can edit or pause your agent at any time.
Do I need to know anything technical? No. If you can describe what you want in a a few sentences, you can build an Agent. The Agent will ask follow-up questions if anything is unclear, and you'll see the full plan before anything runs.
What can an Agent do?
Agents can place, edit, and cancel orders across stocks, options, and crypto; respond to price movement and technical indicators; act on market events; react to updates in your portfolio - such as dividends, interest, option assignment, expiration, and exercise; move money between your accounts; manage your watchlist; send you alerts, and more.
Can Agents trade options? Yes — if your account is approved for the option strategy involved. Agents support single-leg and multi-leg option orders. Can Agents trade crypto? Yes, provided your account is enabled for crypto trading. Agents respect the same trading hours and minimums as an in app crypto order. Trading crypto in agents does have reduced fees. Refer to our fee schedule to learn more.
Can Agents move money for me? Yes. Agents can move money between your Public accounts (for example, sweeping cash into a high-yield cash account). You'll see the amount and destination in the plan before anything moves.
Can Agents react to market conditions, not just price? Yes. You can set conditions based on technical indicators (RSI, MACD, EMA, moving averages, Bollinger Bands, VWAP), one-day price moves, broader market direction, the option chain and Greeks, economic calendar events, and more.
What can't an Agent do right now?
Some capabilities are on the roadmap but not yet in the app: corporate bond and treasury trading, the full breadth of company financials, earnings call summaries, ETF holdings look-through, tax lots, tax documents, backtesting, and Fear/Greed Index as a trigger. If a feature is not available, we’d love to hear from you. Submit new feature requests via the Send Feedback button within the Agents feature or reach out to our Member Support team.
Can I edit, pause, or stop an Agent after I create it?
Yes. After activating an Agent, you can change the conditions, actions, amounts, or frequency at any time. The changes take effect immediately on the next run. Every Agent also has a pause toggle (keeps the setup intact but stops it from running) and a delete option (removes it entirely). Both are instant.
Will I be notified when my Agent takes action?
Yes. You'll receive a notification — push, email, or in your Public inbox, depending on your preferences — every time your Agent places a transaction or moves money, or hits an error. You can set up additional notifications directly when creating the agent - such as when a run occurs or is skipped.
Can I run more than one Agent at a time?
Yes. You can run as many Agents as you want, and they can act on the same positions, the same watchlist, or completely different parts of your portfolio. Once an Agent is active, it runs on its own — you don't need the app open.
