What is an Agent on Public?
Agents on Public use AI to help you research the markets and automate your investing ideas. Just enter a prompt in plain English—whether it's a question about a specific asset, or a trading strategy you want executed on your behalf. Agents are built directly into the Public infrastructure and can access vast amounts of real-time and historical market data. No outside platforms, code, or API keys required. You can review our prompting guide here to learn more.
Agent workflows are currently limited to Web, but are coming soon to mobile.
Are Agents providing investment advice?
No. Agents are not financial advisors and don't recommend trades. They carry out the plans you create. Nothing in the Agents experience is investment advice — you're choosing the strategy.
How do I get access to Agents?
Agents are rolling out to Public's waitlist. Sign up inside the app or at public.com to be notified when you have access. You can sign up here.
How does an Agent work?
How is an Agent different from a regular order? A regular order runs once. An Agent runs whenever the conditions you defined come true — a price move, a market event, a portfolio change, or a recurring schedule. You set it once and the Agent watches for the moment to act.
Is an Agent the same as a robo-advisor? No. A robo-advisor decides what to do for you based on a model portfolio. An Agent does only what you told it to do. You write the plan, you approve it, and the Agent follows it exactly — nothing more, nothing less.
Are Agents deterministic? Yes. Once you approve a plan, the Agent runs that plan the same way every time. It doesn't improvise, get creative, or change its mind. The conversation used to build that plan is not deterministic.
