How do I rollover my retirement account?

If you’re looking to bring a retirement account to Public, we offer two options for transferring your retirement account(s) to Public: (1) Trustee-to-Trustee transfers and (2) Rollovers.

A Trustee-to-Trustee (ACAT) transfer allows you to transfer one retirement account to another retirement account of the same type. For more information on this type of transfer, please review the FAQ on Trustee-to-Trustee transfers.

A Rollover is commonly used when you want to transfer assets from an employer-sponsored plan to an IRA. Rollover processes can vary between firms and can be complex, which is why we have partnered with Capitalize to help streamline your rollover process! There is no cost to you to use this service, and they will assist you with each step along the way.

Here is how to submit the rollover request in the App or you can tap here:

  1. Select the menu icon (3 lines) in the top left corner

  2. Scroll down and select 'Transfer accounts to Public'

  3. Select Retirement

  4. Select Employer-Sponsored retirement accounts

Here is how to submit the rollover request on the Web:

  1. Select the menu icon (3 lines) in the top right corner

  2. Scroll down and select 'Transfer accounts to Public'

  3. Select Retirement

  4. Select Employer-Sponsored retirement accounts

Capitalize will assist you through the process and ensure it is processed as required, but it is important to note that the funds are sent to the correct address and made payable to the correct registration and account number.

Please also ensure you have properly reviewed all relevant information and rules, such as the 60-day rollover window that may apply, and discuss any implications with your tax professional before doing so.

The check must include your Public account number for your IRA and your full name in the payee or memo line.
